Update for 10/15 & 10/16

Homecoming Parade
Thursday, 10/15 at 7:30pm
Current information (which is subject to change - Mr. Brown will announce any changes tomorrow during band)
Band Students need to be at the Shelter at Asbury Park (downtown Bluefield, VA) at 7:00pm with their instruments!
They need to wear blue jeans/tennis shoes & warm clothes. We will provide their band raincoats at the Shelter.

Football Game
Friday, 10/16
Students need to be at GHS at 6:00pm
Buses leave GHS at 6:30pm
They need to have their band shoes and white socks. They need to wear blue jeans and warm clothes, which they will wear to the game if it is raining/snowing. We will provide their band raincoats either at the school or at the Stadium. If it is not raining/snowing too badly, they will wear their temporary uniforms. Mr. Brown will make that call on Friday evening.

GOOD NEWS!!!
FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY! The band uniforms arrived TODAY! They really are sharp. We have fitted approximately 1/2 of the students today and hope to finish tomorrow. If not for the very messy weather forecast, we would be debuting them on Friday night. They will get to wear them on Saturday, 10/24 for State Competition!

*Please remember that even though we have not had dry cleaning fees yet this year, we have had the expense of the temporary uniforms and laundering them EVERY WEEK. We will also have dry cleaning fees following State Competition and the last 2 ballgames. Also, please be reminded that we did not charge parents the entire actual cost of dry cleaning a uniform 10+ times (10 games and 4 competitions) at $7 each time, as we hoped that we would not need to have all of them cleaned every time. Hopefully, this is also a convenience to you to not be worried with your student's uniform each week! I can promise you that our Band Booster Board, along with all of our faithful parents, work very hard to raise money so that heavy expense does not fall to each student.

Update - Wytheville Competition 10/10

Buses will leave at 2:00pm from GHS

Students need to be at the school by 1:45pm or WHENEVER THEIR SECTION LEADER TELLS THEM

Tailgate will be around 4:15pm

Performance at 6:30pm

Awards at 7:30pm

Home around 9pm

weatherchannel.com shows a high of 60 and a 30-50% chance of rain on Saturday - please make sure your students wear blue jeans (not shorts), band t-shirts and tennis shoes on the bus in case the rain is so heavy we must perform in the rain gear

Don't forget band shoes, socks and instrument!
